Patient should stay in clean, healthy surrounding where there is fresh air and Sunlight.
For tubercular fever –
(1) Cold packs to the chest and throat should be applied 2-3 times daily.
(2) Nourishing food like meat and milk must be avoided till the fever subsides.
(3) Orange juice and water should be given and a warm water enema is essential.
(4) He should drink non-pasteurized mille
The diet after the fever should consists of vegetables, milk, fruits, butter, eggs, cheese and nuts. All devitalized food like refined wheat, sugar, tinned and preserved food should be avoided.
Sponge bath is advised in the morning and breathing exercise should be started.
Fever
Cold packs are applied to the whole of the body in case of high temperature.
A large sheet should be dipped in water, wrung out and wrapped twice round the body and the patient should be covered with a blanket.
Cold sponging of the body is also recommended. Mud packs and hip baths also help in fever.
When the fever is present only water and orange juice in limited quantities should be given.
When the fever is under control and the tongue of the patient is of pink colour then only he should be put on fruit diet. For the first two days only fruit juice should be given and then fresh fruits like orange, grapes are given. On the third day, a limited quantity of non-pasteurized fresh milk can be added to the diet of the patient. After, he has to be on a diet of fruit juices and milk for three to four days. He should be advised to start takirg vegetables and bread made of whole wheat.
