The medical name of burping or belching is ructus or eructation. Burping is a process through which gas from the digestive tract is released through the mouth. A typical sound or smell is associated with the gas releasing process. Belching is a phenomenon which is common to all individuals and not restricted to a few numbers of people; also it is not the result of any disorder. Adults and even babies burp in order to remove any extra gas which has been swallowed. Burping helps to relax the muscles of abdomen as all the air in excess is expelled out of the body.

There exist a number of home remedies which can reduce belching.

Since ages, Asafoetida is known for providing relief during belching. Not only do they help getting rid of acidity, which cause the formation of gas in the digestive tract but also help to expel the gas which has already been accumulated in the digestive tract due to drinking, talking and swallowing. Asafoetida is taken in the form of its seeds in raw form along with water. It usually happens that a person experiences extreme pain in stomach due to the accumulation of gas. Cold milk is known to reduce acidity in the stomach and hence is good homemade remedy for belching. It relieves the sensation of burning in the body, which is caused due to the intake of spicy foods. With cold milk, the acidity is reduced in less than no time.

One of the good home remedies for belching includes chewing the leaves of mint. Mint helps to cool the stomach from burning and provides relief soon.

According to a research of bio medicine, the mouth should be kept dry for a little while in a day so as to enhance the process of swallowing. Therefore, to keep the mouth wet, water should be consumed regularly.

Other effective belching homemade remedies

Food which is rich in cholesterol and fatty acids should be strictly avoided. This is because when fatty food is taken in, acidity is built in the digestive tract. Also it should be kept in mind that over eating may also result in acidity and ultimately belching. Ice creams, eggs and whipped cream should be avoided to provide relief from burping.

According to researchers in order to expel gases from the stomach, the individual should try certain positions. If you lie in a knee chest position or on one side, then the gas is effectively passed through the mouth and you will feel much relaxed and comfortable.
